Arboto LabsMechanical - Electrical - Software for Mechatronics and Robotics Systems
About
Aroboto Labs is a group of senior engineers specializing in mechanical, electrical, software engineering for mechatronics and robotics systems, and leader mentorship for teams in the same realm.
Some of our specialties: helping get new, or struggling, projects off the ground by embedding our senior engineers; providing consultation on how to build and run small engineering organizations; turnkey high-reliability prototypes at quantity 10-100 scale.
I started my career at Upenn’s Modlab, spent time as an intern at Willow Garage, an electrical and software engineer at Transcriptic (now Strateos), a contractor working for Dispatch.ai, then was the first non-founder engineer at Neuralink. I’ve spent many years as an IC (and still love individual technical work), but have also build and run teams from 5 to 80 people in intense startup environments.
I specialize in taking ideas from “has maybe worked once” prototypes to reliable quantity 10-100 systems ready for production use or transfer to larger scale manufacturing design.
Some examples of systems I had a large part in: At Transcriptic / Strateos, I worked on the workcell SBS plate manipulator and multiple custom SBS format fully automated biology lab devices (I did the electrical and embedded software design for the gantry system, and a lot of electrical, embedded, and backend software for the devices within).
At Neuralink, I spent my time doing engineering work on the various robotic surgical systems and eventually took over leadership of the entire robotics and surgical effort. We designed a system that has subsequently done a successful surgery on a human patient in the clinical trial setting.
I enjoy working on new projects with new teams, both as a technical contributor and a mentor for new or struggling engineering leaders.
